Addiction, Recovery, and Creativity

Electric Attack It is the sense of being impinged on by the world coming at you from every direction and the struggle to try and keep it from swallowing you whole.

Change Your Mind I have been interested in the brain for some time. There is so much that we have learned and yet there is so much more to be learned. I chose to represent it as being juggled because we can do many things that can change our brains both damaging and productive. Drug abuse damages the brain while exercising your mind helps keep it healthy. One of the things that I read was helpful for the brain was juggling so I thought incorporating these two ideas would be interesting.

About Karen

I became interested in art at a very young age when found myself isolated both within my family and socially. Art became a way to express myself and find some sense of self esteem. I have some art training and I have been creative since I was about 10 years old. I believe that creativity is a great way to deal with the mental and emotional difficulties of life. I grew up in an addicted family and became addicted myself at a young age. I struggled with my own addiction for 21 years until I found a way out of that world and into the world of recovery. I have worked in the field of addiction for about 20 years now and I encourage creativity as a way of coping for my clients. I work with youth and decided to use my poetic abilities to try my hand a rap music in order to better reach that age group. I currently have 42 you tube videos and 162 rap songs. In each I have written the lyrics, created the music and used a piece of artwork to back the song.
