Music and Trauma

Music by PLike

Plike's debut album, 47th Helen, tells the story of Helen, a woman whose psyche has fractured due to painful traumas in her past. Confined to a psychiatric hospital, Helen's different personalities tell of her struggles with depression, addiction, fear, and self doubt. The inspiration for the album's concept was born from Em's own struggle with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, a condition that affects 7.7 million adults in the United States.

Meet Mad Madam Em, songwriter, electronic music producer, and the creator of P'like. She began her musical journey in 2003 as bass player for Bishop Buzzkill, an experimental industrial band from San Diego, California. In 2005, Em started playing keys and synths in the band, eventually moving on to drum programming and sequencing. In January 2014, P'like was born.  Check out more of P'Like on Soundcloud.
